Tony Plana

Seniors in Play Founder Tony Plana is a highly accomplished and respected professional actor, director and arts & education advocate with a career that spans more than four decades. 

Tony has been often referred to as "El Jefe" in Three Amigos, Ugly Betty's Father to America Ferrera and Rita Moreno's Husband in One Day at a Time. He has performed in more than 70 feature films, including notable films JFK, Officer and a Gentleman and Roman J. Israel, Esquire starring Denzel Washington. Recent works include Pain & Gain with Dwayne Johnson and Mark Walberg, Bombshell with Nicole Kidman & Charlize Theron in addition to Wasp Network with Penelope Cruz. Upcoming projects include the highly anticipated HBO Drama mini-series, White House Plumbers premiering on May 1, 2023. 

In 2010, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa selected Tony as worthy of one of the highest honors bestowed by the City of Los Angeles, The Dream of Los Angeles Award for his contributions to the media arts and education. He is also the proud recipient of the 2013 ALMA Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Council of La Raza, the National Association of Latino Independent Producers' Lifetime Achievement Award for 2016, and the 2018 Nosotros Lifetime Impact Golden Eagle Award.
